The Plot
The film begins in 1905, when Gauri, a vivacious girl, falls in love with Gangadhar Upadhyay, a reserved priest who is sworn to celibacy due to a family oath. Despite the social barriers, they elope and consummate their love. However, their happiness is short-lived, as Kalawati, a jealous woman who wants Gangadhar for herself, poisons Gauri and kills her unborn child. Devastated by the loss of his beloved and his child, Gangadhar commits suicide.
The film then propels forward to 1978, when Gauri and Prakash are reincarnated as a modern couple. They fall in love and marry against the wishes of Prakash's family, who want him to marry Renuka, who is none other than Kalawati in her new life. After their wedding, they go to Rajasthan for their honeymoon, where Gauri starts behaving strangely. She becomes obsessed with an unseen lover and rejects Prakash's advances. She also falls ill and is hospitalized.
With the help of Dr. Vachaspati, who was the vaidyaraj (traditional healer) in their past life, they discover the truth about their previous births and the curse that haunts them. They learn that they can only break the cycle of death and rebirth if they save their child in this life. However, Renuka is determined to separate them once again and tries to kill Gauri by giving her poison. Will Gauri and Prakash be able to overcome their destiny and live happily ever after? Or will history repeat itself?
